HOW JOURNALING CHANGED A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE AS A TEEN

I used to be one of those anxious people , scrolling aimlessly on TikTok and endlessly looking for my passion ( I'm multi passionate by the way) until I stumbled across a Christian challenge that required us to take several minutes of our time each day to do a  'JESUS challenge'.

The JESUS challenge was held monthly for thirty days where each  day you'd be required to journal down your thoughts to Him, experience him through worship songs , study one verse of the bible , memorize the study and finally pray. The bible verses for a week were given the week prior.

The aim to all of these is to bring people closer to God in their own way. People who wants a deeper level of connection with God without the church assistance (like me). And that single decision spiraled into an habit that can't be stopped ( not like I want it to)

Whilst , with time I couldn't continue with the monthly challenges , I didn't stop journaling, or writing down my thoughts in form of a letter to God. To clear the air, my love for documenting my life in written form didn't start today although that's a story for another day. I've always known that I'm a writer.

Anyways , I did the challenge and tried to be consistent . For a while , I was but I couldn't keep up. Although I did take one important thing from that encounter and it was addressing my daily words as a letter to God. Then, my relationship with God was perfunctory at best. But writing to Him felt easier, I was in my domain. Nevertheless I could tell him every and any thing that went on in my life with no judgement. I took Him as my closest confidante and till this day , I do.

Don't misquote me , prayers are very important but for me on the days it felt like a chore, I wrote . It helped me be more organized , less anxious and it built my faith knowing that God had assisted me in areas where I had previously complained to him in writing.

I won't tell you how to journal because that's a personal thing but I will say this; start today, write down your thoughts it gets easier.

If you interested in this online challenge, leave a comment I'll drop the creator's TikTok handle.
